HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

Doug Nissing, Chair of Webster Park Association, spoke to HPC about their decision to move forward with local historic designation.
· Mr. Nissing spoke that the presence of Mike Harney, Greg Falk, and Todd Meyer at the annual association meeting in June 2011 was a critical factor in the decision process. Their presentation regarding the benefits and pitfalls of local historic designation alleviated concerns and misunderstandings of Webster Park residents and also provided them with a more comprehensive understanding about the meaning of such designation.
· Mr. Nissing provided the HPC with a copy of “Webster Park… A Residential Historic District” which included various documents used or collected during for their application for the 2008 National Register.
· Mr. Nissing stated that Mike Harney had already checked to make sure Webster Park documents were in compliance with the city.

Annual Strategies for Year 1
Awards of Excellence Committee has changed awards ceremony time line to occur every two years rather than annually. Therefore, there is no ceremony/awards this year. Current nominees will remain as nominees for the next awards ceremony.

MOTION: Motion to approve the minutes for August 17, 2011
MOTION: Motion made to schedule a Public Hearing for the October 19th, 2011 meeting to recommend Webster Park as a city designated historic district and to send letters to property owners of Webster Park notifying them of the public hearing.
Motion to adjorn at 8:40 pm.
