Residential Trash Information
Waste Management holds the contract to collect trash, yard waste and recyclables from single family and two-family residences.
Unlimited bags or cans of household trash (each weighing under 60 pounds) will be collected from your front curbline. All collections will be made between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please place all items for collection at the curb by 6:00 a.m. the day of pickup, but no earlier than 4:00 p.m. the day prior to pickup. After collection, all empty containers should be removed from the curb by 9:00 a.m. the following day.
Cost Details (2/1/2014 - 1/31/2015)
Basic curb collection once per week - $63.60 per quarter
Optional rear collection (trash only) - $123.90 per quarter
Mobile Carts for Trash Collection
A 96-gallon mobile cart will be furnished to each residence at no additional charge. This cart may be used for trash collection only. If you would prefer a smaller 64-gallon cart or if you are unable to use a trash cart, please contact Waste Management at 314-382-3100.
Bulky Trash CollectionAll household furnishings, mattresses, sofas, chairs and other large items other than those listed under "Major Household Appliances" that can be easily and safely handled by two men, and do not exceed three cubic yards total volume will be picked up at no additional charge along with the regular trash collection.
Household remodeling debris, not exceeding two (2) standard trash containers per week (each weighing less than 60 pounds and not exceeding 45-gallon capability) are included in this service.
Major Household Appliances, Tires and BatteriesLarge household appliances consisting of refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers and dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dish washers, microwave ovens, ranges, stoves, wood stoves and air conditioners that can be easily and safely handled by two workers and do not exceed three cubic yards total volume; motor vehicle or trailer tires and lead acid batteries with a nominal voltage of six volts or greater will be picked up at no additional charge. This collection must be scheduled in advance by contacting Waste Management at 314-382-3100.
Waste Management observes the following six holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
If the holiday falls during the business week, and it is before your pickup day, your pickup schedule will fall one day later for that week. If the holiday falls after your pickup day, or on a Saturday or Sunday, your pickup schedule will not change.

DiscountsSenior Citizen 25% Discount is available for basic services collection and will be provided to residents in which the head of the household is 65 years or older and the household's income does not exceed the following:
Disabled Citizen 25% Discount is available to households where the head of the household is permanently disabled. Discount may be applied to rear yard trash collection only. To qualify, written certification of permanent disability of the head of the household must be provided to the City by the resident's physician certifying disability using the same criteria as for the issuance of the State of Missouri disabled person's vehicle license plates.
1 in Household - $24,250 maximum gross income
2 in Household - $27,700 maximum gross income
3 in Household - $31,150 maximum gross income
